"The Journey" by Ed Jankiewicz
Pleasant Run Music of Readington, New Jersey is pleased to announce the release of "The Journey" by Ed Jankiewicz. This self-produced CD was recorded by Mike Lozinski at Windmill Studios in Stockton, NJ. Aside from a few guest background vocalists, a drummer, an accordionist, an oboist and a clarinetist, Ed performed all of the vocal and instrumental parts himself, thanks to the miracle of modern recording technology and Mike’s invaluable engineering and production assistance.
This CD of mostly original contemporary Christian inspirational music in the folk/rock style recaps Ed’s journey of faith. The collection starts with a view of life without God in "Sinner Man" and travels through the ups and downs of the journey, ending with a plaintive meditation on the ancient melody "Pange Lingua" followed by the rollicking (and scripture-rich) statement of faith "God is Love." Other selections chronicle Ed’s journey in faith through his family life, including the loss of his father at a young age, a pilgrimage to Rome and Assisi, and asking himself some tough questions, such as "what if He came back – today?" Almost everyone should find something with which to identify in this collection of songs.
Ed has been a church musician and chorister since the age of 14, first at the parish of his youth St. Thomas the Apostle in Old Bridge, NJ, and since 1986 at Our Lady of Lourdes in Whitehouse Station, New Jersey. Along with several local clergy members, Ed has performed as "Mr. Ed and The Revs" at ecumenical services, fundraisers, and community social events. Ed has also performed extensively in entertainment settings, including an assortment of garage bands, many years in a busy wedding band, over 25 years in the folk trio "The Raritan Minstrels", and currently in an acoustic rock duo "Los Dos" with his partner Jim Oakley. (By the way, the "Revs", "Minstrels" and Jim all appear on the CD project.) Ed teaches guitar and other fretted instruments at the Eastern Conservatory of Music and Arts, currently operating in Oldwick. Ed brings all his experience as a liturgical musician, pop music entertainer, and teacher, to bear in his recording and live performance.
Ed’s hope and prayer for this project is that it might lead listeners on a journey, through their own hearts, to find their way back to God. That they might accept the saving grace offered by the sacrifice of Jesus, and to open themselves to the grace and fellowship available via an active life in the community of the Church. Ed is available for concerts, coffeehouses, church services and fellowships, and is actively seeking opportunities to share his songs and stories with anyone who will listen.
